Aston Carter is hiring a Senior Accountant in Appleton, WI to lead monthly close, financial reporting, and payroll for a multi-location organization. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience with journal entries.
• Proven experience preparing account reconciliations, including balance sheet & bank reconciliations.
• Experience supporting financial reporting, including preparation and review of financial statements.
• Experience supporting external financial audits through preparation of schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong analytical skills with variance analysis.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective problem-solving with focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on accounting environment experience with transactional and analytical tasks.
• Proficiency with Excel pivot tables.
• Experience with core accounting functions: GL, reporting, balance sheet, AP, AR, fixed assets, payroll.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly financial close process by preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining documentation.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances.
• Assist with preparation and review of monthly financial statements and variance analysis.
• Prepare patient fee and accounts receivable schedules and related journal entries.
• Review cash receipt activity to ensure proper GL posting.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation entries; perform subledger reconciliations.
• Assist with fixed asset inventories and audits.
• Partner with leadership on annual budgeting and revisions, providing insights.
• Enter and maintain budget data in the financial system.
• Provide departmental reporting and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Support annual external audits with schedules and reconciliations.
• Assist with grant-related reporting and compliance materials.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve timeliness.
