Job summary

Kemper is seeking a Senior Accountant to support Property & Casualty premium accounting, expanding expertise in ledgers, consolidation and SEC/GAAP/statutory reporting within the P&C segment of the insurance company.

The ideal candidate will have solid accounting knowledge, including debits/credits, journal entries, and month-end reporting; strong analytical abilities and communication skills are essential for interaction with management and auditors.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of insurance industry or public accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Familiarity with US GAAP; statutory accounting knowledge a plus.
• Experience navigating a large ERP environment.
• Proficient in MS Excel (intermediate–advanced).
• Strong writing, analytical, and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication with management and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries.
• Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations.
• Consolidate company operating information for internal and external financial reporting.
• Work with internal and external auditors and provide necessary support.
• Prepare analytical schedules, analyze variances, and support internal requests.
• Identify, lead, manage, and complete process improvement projects.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Prepare and/or review quarterly statutory-basis financial statements.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
