Job summary

Hope Media Group in Houston, TX seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting Department reporting to the Controller. You will ensure accurate financial statements, analysis of results, and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards for the organization.

You will prepare journal entries, support month-end close, assist with audits and budgeting, and collaborate with FP&A to explain drivers behind variances and financial trends.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 7+ years accounting or financial reporting experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Knowledge of nonprofit regulations (Section 501(c)3 organizations), preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and reconcile accounting records, financial statements, and financial reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Perform various activities to support the month-end close process.
• Prepare and verify journal entries to the general ledger.
• Assist with annual audit and budgeting process.
• Support Financial, Planning & Analysis team with determining financial details and drivers of reporting results.
• Make monthly expense accrual entries and ensure the accuracy of expense coding and reporting.
• Adhere to internal controls, policies and procedures for financial management; and oversight for the organizations.
