Job summary

Foshee Residential seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to support its affordable housing portfolio in Montgomery, AL. The role combines technical accounting with team leadership, focusing on LIHTC, HUD, and USDA programs, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness.

The Senior Accountant will supervise 1–3 accounting staff, provide training, and develop processes to strengthen internal controls and reporting timelines. Strong Excel and Yardi/MRI/RealPage familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with LIHTC, HUD, and USDA programs.
• Experience supervising, training, or mentoring accounting staff.
• Strong understanding of affordable housing accounting and compliance.
• Experience reviewing financial statements and supporting audits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for LIHTC, HUD, and USDA communities.
• Ensure compliance with LIHTC, HUD, USDA, and GAAP requirements.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and chart of accounts.
• Support LIHTC, HUD, and USDA audits, including schedules and responses.
• Monitor reserve accounts, restricted funds, and surplus cash calculations.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Maintain documentation for regulatory reporting and internal controls.
• Help ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Supervise and review work of 1–3 Property Accountants.
• Train accounting staff on affordable housing requirements and procedures.
• Provide coaching and feedback; onboarding and development.
• Identify training opportunities and process improvements.
• Strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls.
