Job summary

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant to develop and report ongoing accounting processes for Life Company products, ensuring GAAP compliance across ledgers and reconciliations. You will own balance sheet accounts, analyze variances, and partner with Finance and Client Service to drive accuracy and internal control improvements.

The position offers in-office collaboration with a hybrid work model, a base salary range of $71,300–$98,100 per year, and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years accounting experience including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
• Ability to evaluate critical operational and financial problems and proactively apply action steps to resolve.
• Proficient with current desktop tools and Advanced Excel abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Access, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL.
• Annuity and Life Insurance Product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting processes for transactions per company policies and controls.
• Prepares journal entries, account analyses, and investigates unusual balances.
• Owns assigned balance sheet accounts and clears reconciling items.
• Collaborates with finance and client service to resolve variances.
• Drives process improvements to enhance reconciliation quality and efficiency.
• Identifies automation opportunities to reduce manual work.
