Job summary

firstPRO, Inc is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in New Jersey. You will advance beyond transactional work, owning financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, and internal controls, while partnering with the Controller to improve processes.

You will oversee GL activity, assist with audits and regulatory filings, and drive reconciliation accuracy across departments. Strong Excel skills and manufacturing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with accounting coursework.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
• CPA or progress toward licensure preferred.
• Experience supervising or training junior accounting staff is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Sage 100 / MAS 90 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review accounting transactions across AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and journal entries for accuracy and proper documentation.
• Monitor general ledger activity, identify discrepancies, and coordinate timely corrections.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for cash, prepaid expenses, liabilities, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
• Manage month-end close schedules and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare financial schedules and variance analyses to support management reporting.
• Assist with annual budgeting by coordinating departmental submissions and consolidating information.
• Analyze monthly budget-to-actual results and communicate key findings to department leaders.
• Support Controller with financial statements, reporting packages, and ad hoc analysis.
• Coordinate supporting documentation for external audits and tax preparation.
