Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Accountant III based in Chicago. This will be a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

• Closing and Reporting – Plan, coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly and annual closings, related accounting tasks and reporting products (e.g., financial reports, regulatory reporting, group/management reporting). Complete assigned postings, journal entries and account reconciliations on a periodic basis; reconcile and resolve intra‑company transactions with affiliates; coordinate, transfer and reconcile of data from input/frontend systems; and submit monthly legal entity close activities, incl. accruals and manual adjustments.
• Governance and quality assurance – Own closing/reporting processes and products and contribute to the simplification, standardisation and harmonisation of processes and tools to improve productivity. Ensure fulfillment of documentation and audit requirements.
• Collaboration, communication and relationship management – Manage relationships with internal finance colleagues, group accounting and reporting, other AZ‑external stakeholders, 3rd‑party reinsurers and brokers, and external auditors. Interface with tax authorities and public authorities where applicable.
• Ad‑hoc tasks and project work as assigned, specifically in the immediate global long‑term Aurora reinsurance structure.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years professional experience in reinsurance accounting of P&C.
• 3–5 years experience in project and team work in an international and dynamic setting.

• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS 17, local GAAP, regulatory and other relevant requirements.
• Manage closing and reporting processes in line with relevant internal & external requirements; ensure data correctness, quality and integrity.
• Big‑data automation capabilities (e.g., Alteryx, AI, SAP Analytics Cloud).
• Generate reports and reconciliations for internal and external requirements.
• Solid understanding of global RI processes and underlying business transactions.
• Ability to make sense of complex issues; respond to complex/ambiguous situations by identifying and initiating appropriate remediation and follow‑up. Anticipate and resolve issues before they transpire.
• Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
• Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision‑making is preferred.
• Master’s degree preferred, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting.
• Locally recognised professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA, etc.), if applicable.

Compensation & Benefits

US Applicants: The annualised base pay range for this role is $115K to $135K USD. The base salary may be above this range depending on scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials and experience. The base pay is part of a comprehensive compensation package that also includes annual performance‑based cash incentive awards. All employees are eligible for a highly rated benefits program, including a generous bonus scheme, pension, private healthcare, generous parental leave benefits, and support for flexible working arrangements.
