Compass Group USA is seeking a Senior Accountant, Contracts, at the North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC. This hybrid role oversees contract reviews, ensures compliance with contract terms, and maintains precise financial records.

The candidate will lead cross-functional collaboration and mentor peers. Requirements include a degree in Accounting or Finance, 3+ years of accounting experience, contract interpretation skills, and proficiency in Excel and SAP.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum three years full general ledger or contractual accounting experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience with contract interpretation is a plus.
• Proficient knowledge of Excel; SAP a plus; Hyperion/Essbase a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts to identify and interpret complex financial obligations.
• Ensure compliance to contract terms including commissions, volume allowances and profit splits.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, payments and reconciliations for contractual obligations.
• Ensure IFRS-based reporting and monthly P&L reflects period results.
• Drive process improvements and maintain internal controls.
• Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Legal and Field Finance teams.

Responsibilities:

• Review contracts to identify and interpret complex financial obligations
• Ensure compliance to contract terms and commitments including, commissions, volume allowances, profit splits etc.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for such contractual obligations
• Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures manual based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Ensure monthly profit and loss statements are an accurate reflection of the results of the period
• Prevent earnings management through appropriate use and validation of journal entries
• Partner with internal departments such as Corporate Accounting, Legal, Technical Accounting & Audit, STG, etc., as well as Field Finance and Operations management
• Ensure balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly
• Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible mis-statement/defalcation Use all available tools to maintain highest degree of internal control possible
• Drive, create, and implement new processes and strive to identify and implement process improvements for existing procedures
• Create and maintain checklists to ensure compliance with contractual terms
• Be a leader in the department, assist peers, and act as a mentor to new or existing Field Accounting associates

Qualifications:

• Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum three years full general ledger or contractual accounting experience
• Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
• Must be a quick learner and self-motivated, as well as resilient
• Experience with contract interpretation is a plus
• Proficient knowledge of Excel, SAP a plus
• Experience with Hyperion/Essbase a plus
• Relationship builder that is able to effectively communicate, written and verbally, with all levels of associates across the organization
