Job summary

The Department of Budget and Fiscal Services in Honolulu seeks an Accountant IV to perform complex professional accounting work, including maintaining and revising the accounting system to HUD standards. The position analyzes financial data and guides the Section 8 Administrator on fund management.

You will prepare and manage federal and city budgets for the Section 8 program, provide financial analyses to control costs, submit quarterly and year-end reports to HUD, and lead staff on procedures

Qualifications

• Three years of professional accounting experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Education must be met at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage federal and city budgets and budget revisions for the Section 8 program.
• Provide financial analyses to monitor operating costs and advise the Section 8 Administrator.
• Prepare and submit quarterly and year-end financial reports to HUD and other oversight agencies.
• Lead and guide Section 8 personnel on financial procedures, forms, classifications, and federal accounting requirements.
• Coordinate with HUD, auditors, City departments, and vendors regarding financial reporting, audits, funding, and compliance requirements.
