Job summary

City and County of Honolulu seeks an Accountant IV to perform complex professional accounting work, including maintaining and revising the accounting system in accordance with HUD requirements. The role analyzes financial data and provides guidance on Section 8 fund management.

You will prepare budgets, provide analyses to control costs, and lead staff on financial procedures and federal requirements, coordinating with HUD, auditors, and city departments.

Qualifications

• Education/experience requirements for accounting roles in public sector.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting in government.
• Familiarity with HUD requirements and government audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage federal and city budgets for the Section 8 program.
• Provide financial analyses to monitor operating costs and advise on funding.
• Prepare and submit quarterly and year-end financial reports to HUD and others.
• Lead Section 8 staff on financial procedures and compliance with federal rules.
• Coordinate with HUD, auditors, and city departments on reporting and funding.
