Job summary

Capital University is seeking a Senior Accountant to support general ledger functions within the Finance Office. The role will monitor and improve workflows, assist in year-end audit prep, reconcile accounts, and generate periodic management reports.

The Senior Accountant will also perform account analysis, provide software support for the office, and respond to campus inquiries with accuracy and timeliness. A bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• 3–5 years of related accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; experience with Colleague (Ellucian) and Synoptix a plus.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and regulatory content.
• Strong problem solving, communication, teamwork, and deadline-driven work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assists operations with general ledger and monthly close, including journal entries.
• Performs monthly reconciliation of key accounts and bank statements; ensures subsidiary records agree with GL.
• Manages accounting functions of administrative software systems and payment platforms.
• Performs monthly and annual reporting; assists with year-end audit papers.
• Generate reports, account analysis and research of documentation; respond to campus community requests for information and assistance.
