Job summary

Arizona College of Nursing is hiring a Senior Accountant to support general ledger management and the monthly close. The role centers on ASC 842 lease accounting, fixed assets, and cross-functional collaboration in a mission-driven environment.

Based at our North Phoenix campus in a hybrid schedule (three days onsite, two at home), you will drive accurate financial reporting, capital tracking, and audit support, partnering with operations and finance to strengthen our controls and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Hands-on ASC 842 lease accounting experience (setup, entries, remeasurements, reconciliations).
• Strong fixed asset accounting experience (capitalization, depreciation, tracking, CIP).
• Public Accounting experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP; Coupa experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities.
• Own fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and capital tracking.
• Manage lease accounting (ASC 842), including CAM reconciliations and tenant improvements.
• Track and reconcile construction-in-progress and capital expenditures.
• Oversee prepaid expenses, including schedules, amortization, and reconciliation.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve variances.
• Review AP invoice coding and support weekly payment processing (ACH/checks).
• Partner cross-functionally to investigate discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
• Support annual audits, including preparation of schedules and auditor interaction.

Senior Accountant

Reporting to the VP Controller, this role is ideal for an accounting professional with knowledge specific to ASC 842 lease accounting and fixed assets, who enjoys owning core accounting processes, supporting the monthly close, and partnering across the organization in a mission-driven, collaborative environment.

This is a hybrid position based at our headquarters in North Phoenix, with a schedule of three days onsite and two days working from home each week.

The role

Reporting to the VP Controller, the Senior Accountant will support general ledger management and play a key role in the monthly close process.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities
• Own fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and capital tracking
• Manage lease accounting (ASC 842), including CAM reconcilations and tenant improvement activity
• Track and reconcile construction-in-progress and capital expenditures
• Oversee prepaid expenses, including schedules, amortization, and reconciliation
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve variances
• Review AP invoice coding and support weekly payment processing (ACH/checks)
• Partner cross-functionally to investigate discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting
• Support annual audits, including preparation of schedules and auditor interaction

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting, including lease setup, monthly lease entries, remeasurements, reconciliations, CAM reconcilations, and tenant improvement accounting.
• Strong fixed asset accounting experience, including capitalization policies, depreciation calculations, asset tracking, disposals, and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting.
• Public Accounting experience preferred
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
• Intermediate Excel skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP (preferred)
• Coupa or similar procurement system experience (a plus)
