We're looking for someone who enjoys more than maintaining existing processes—someone who is curious, takes initiative, and looks for better ways to get things done. Working closely with the Director of Finance and other departments, you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, implement improvements, and help build a more efficient and scalable accounting function.

  • This postion is located onsite at our homebase office in the east end of Louisville.
  • This role is Full Time.
  • The role is exempt with a salary range of $85,000-$105,000 annually.
Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of St. Matthews Pharmacy’s accounting records and financial statements. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position owns key general ledger, accrual accounting, accounts receivable reporting, and accounts payable processes across multiple locations and entities. The role requires advanced, hands‑on Oracle NetSuite proficiency, hands‑on experience with annual financial statement audits and lender field examinations, and the ability to independently resolve complex accounting and reconciliation issues. The role also serves as a accounting‑side lead for financial systems and automation improvements, proactively identifying, implementing, and maintaining technology and responsible AI solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.

The Senior Accountant oversees the outsourced accounts payable processing relationship with Pinnacle Data Services Private Limited (PDSPL), prepares bank payments as directed by the Director of Finance, and supports strong internal controls, automation, and continuous improvement. Final review of financial statements and authorization and release of bank payments remain with the Director of Finance.

  • Ensure the three statements are internally consistent, properly classified, supported by reliable schedules, and reconciled to the general ledger; investigate and correct discrepancies.
  • Own assigned month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, deferrals, prepaid expenses, cutoff, recurring and reversing entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain supporting schedules for cash, receivables, inventory, prepaids, fixed assets, payables, accrued liabilities, and debt; ensure appropriate cash‑flow classifications.
  • Analyze account fluctuations and unusual transactions to identify accounting errors and ensure accurate, timely reporting across entities and pharmacy locations.

  • Troubleshoot financial reporting, data flow, and integration issues; reconcile information between NetSuite, pharmacy systems, and other reporting tools.
  • Document and strengthen accounting policies, standard operating procedures, approval controls, segregation of duties, and reconciliation practices.
  • Collaborate with IT, pharmacy operations, purchasing, finance, and outsourced partners to resolve exceptions and improve accounting accuracy.
Financial Systems, AI & Workflow Automation
  • Serve as the accounting department’s primary resource for identifying, evaluating, and leading accounting‑side implementation of approved financial systems, workflow automation, and AI‑enabled solutions.
  • Proactively identify manual, repetitive, spreadsheet‑dependent, or error‑prone accounting processes and develop practical plans to streamline or automate them.
  • Lead accounting‑side configuration, implementation, testing, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of approved automation tools integrated with Oracle NetSuite and related systems.
  • Understand system integrations, data flows, and exception handling; partner with IT and external vendors for specialized technical development and implementation.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve account reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP workflows, financial reporting, and audit support using automation and responsibly deployed AI.
  • Validate automated outputs against source records and the general ledger; maintain approvals, access controls, audit trails, data confidentiality, and human review for consequential accounting actions.
  • Continuously assess whether implemented tools are reliable and delivering measurable improvements in timeliness, accuracy, and manual effort.
Audit & Lender Examination Support
  • Participate directly in annual financial statement audits and support lender field examinations, preparing requested schedules, account reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses.
  • Support examiner requests involving AR, inventory, cash, AP, revenue, and borrowing base data; investigate and resolve findings and maintain audit‑ready records.
Operational Accounting & Analysis
  • Perform general ledger and financial statement analysis to identify material variances, unusual trends, and potential accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, valuation reconciliations, purchase accruals, and period‑end cutoff procedures.
  • Support financial reporting and reconciliation activities across multiple pharmacy locations and business entities.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership to improve the reliability and usefulness of financial reporting and operational analysis.
