Eligible for a hybrid work schedule split between home & office, with a minimum of 3 days in the office each week.

At The Cheesecake Factory, We Don't Do Ordinary! Nothing is scaled down. Not the pride, not the fun, and definitely not the teamwork. Here, you'll do meaningful work alongside great people who care about each other and are passionate about supporting the restaurant teams that create memorable experiences for our guests every day. That's the kind of culture that has earned us a place on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For® list every year since 2014.

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting will join our Financial Reporting and SEC team. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, this high-impact position will play an important role in the preparation of the Company’s SEC filings, consolidated financial statements, earnings release materials, and other internal and external reporting deliverables.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys understanding how the pieces of a public company’s financial statements fit together. You’ll partner with teams across Accounting, Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and Operations to gather and validate information, prepare disclosures, resolve reporting questions, and help deliver accurate and timely financial information.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, experience with public-company reporting or public accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities during monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Are
  • Energized by understanding how the pieces of a public company’s financial statements fit together.
  • Highly organized and able to maintain accuracy while managing multiple deliverables and firm reporting deadlines.
  • A thoughtful problem-solver who can research accounting and financial reporting issues and develop well-supported conclusions.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
  • A clear communicator who can explain financial information and reporting matters to a variety of partners.
Here’s more of what you’ll get to do:

  • SEC Reporting & External Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and documentation used in the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC reporting process.
    • Draft and perform detailed tie-outs of the Company’s SEC filings and public documents, such as 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, Proxy, CSR Report, Investor Presentation, and other materials.
  • Consolidations and Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare the multi-entity and multi-currency monthly consolidation of the Company’s financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, along with supporting schedules and analysis of consolidated results.
    • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and supporting financial statement analyses.
  • Technical Accounting and Lease Accounting:
    • Prepare monthly ASC 842 lease accounting journal entries, reconciliations, rollforwards, and supporting schedules, and investigate and resolve lease-related items.
    • Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for technical accounting matters, including debt, EPS, segments, equity, and other corporate accounting transactions.
  • Financial Reporting Systems and Compliance:
    • Maintain and configure financial reporting system rules, account mappings, and data integrations into the general ledger.
    • Support internal and external auditors by preparing requested analyses, schedules, and documentation and helping manage PBC lists.
    • Maintain effective internal controls over assigned financial reporting and lease accounting processes, support SOX compliance, and complete ad hoc analyses and cross-functional projects.
What we require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification.
  • 3+ years of Big 4 or national public accounting experience, or 5+ years of progressive financial reporting experience with a public company.
  • Experience in public accounting, a publicly traded company, or another complex, multi-entity reporting environment.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and a strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Experience preparing, auditing, reviewing, or supporting SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Experience with monthly, quarterly, or annual close and financial reporting processes.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, data analysis, and complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research issues and develop well-supported conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing complete and accurate work.
  • Ability to organize multiple workstreams, adjust priorities, and meet firm reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
What We Prefer
  • Big Four or large national public accounting experience, particularly with audits of SEC registrants.
  • Experience with Infor CloudSuite Financials or another large ERP system.
  • Experience with consolidation and financial reporting systems such as Hyperion.
  • Experience with technical lease accounting under ASC 842.
  • Experience researching technical accounting and SEC reporting matters.
  • Experience in the restaurant, retail, hospitality, consumer, or another multi-location industry.
