Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking an accounting professional to join the Division of Financial Management, Accounting Branch. The incumbent will provide professional accounting advice on issues, system problems, and recommendations to the Accounting Officer.

Basic requirements include a degree with 24 semester hours in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least one year at the next lower grade level or equivalent government accounting experience.

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11).
• Experience in managing staff reporting functions to ensure timely, accurate reports.
• Experience communicating with Treasury, DFO, or Headquarters for financial data.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice on accounting issues, system problems, and recommendations to the Accounting Officer.
• Oversee debt management policy and internal control systems as designed.
• Ensure compliance and reporting accuracy across the program.
