Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a skilled finance professional to support the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) Finance & Operations. This role focuses on internal financial reporting, budgeting, and period-end close processes in a collaborative environment on Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities include preparing monthly P&L statements, overseeing reconciliations, and providing guidance on accounting treatments. CPA preferred; Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent with 5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Master’s degree or specialized experience preferred.
• Fiscal administrative experience preferred.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains responsibility for internal financial reporting, classification of accounts and funds, ledgers and research financial management.
• Prepares the monthly SMD profit and loss statement with budget-to-actual variance analysis and reporting; co-presents findings at monthly MSAG meetings; oversees reconciliations of SMD F&O operating accounts.
• Performs analysis to ensure integrity of accounting data and transactions; provides guidance on accounting treatment of financial transactions.
• Trains incoming staff on UR Financials and journal entry process; helps develop reporting and journal entry processes.
• Ensures proper billing of University Hospital Affiliates and deposits checks; compiles annual AAMC Faculty Salary survey and SMD F&O surveys.
