Job summary

Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT seeks a Senior Accountant for a full-time, exempt, 40-hour week with a hybrid work arrangement. Responsibilities span general ledger, reconciliations, budget processes, endowment accounting, and audit support.

Some evenings and weekends may be required during peak periods. Each Senior Accountant has primary focus areas (Core Accounting, FP&A, Endowment/Investment Accounting) and cross-training to ensure coverage.

Qualifications

• Not-for-profit or independent school accounting experience preferred.
• 5–7 years progressive accounting experience including GL close, reconciliations, fixed assets, and audit prep.
• CPA preferred but not required; fund/endowment accounting experience valued.
• Cross-trained across duties with ability to cover other Senior Accountant responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate general ledger processing, cash receipts, journal entries, and GL integrations; alternate postings with another Senior Accountant.
• Manage monthly reconciliations and year-end close.
• Oversee endowment and investment accounting and related reporting.
• Assist with annual budget process, financial projection models, and audit support.
