Job summary

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team in Illinois. The role focuses on applying accounting principles, maintaining controls, and producing accurate financial statements.

You will be part of a collaborative, in-office environment supporting a mission to serve member institutions and communities. Cross-functional collaboration, budgeting support, and timely reporting across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles are core.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
• Ability to deal with exceptional issues.
• Analytical problem solver.
• Strong communicator.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements.
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with policies.
• Prepare financial management reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely month-, quarter- and year-end close.
• Coordinate audit processes with internal and external auditors.
• Analyze revenues and expenses and advise on resource use.
• Ad hoc reporting as needed.
