Job summary

Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. in Pasadena, CA seeks a Senior Accountant for Corporate Accounting to support month-end close, reporting, and cross-functional projects across property accounting, development, and SEC reporting.

The role offers exposure to CAM reconciliations, construction reporting, and tax compliance within a leading life science REIT environment. Strong Excel and Yardi experience are valued, with a CPA pathway encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required; Master’s degree in related field is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience required and strong understanding of accounting principles.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Experience within commercial real estate or a public company environment is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Yardi accounting Software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Property Accounting: perform month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet and income statement review, CAM and bank reconciliations.
• Real Estate Development: assist with project setup, construction accruals and WIP reporting.
• Transactions: perform purchase accounting analysis, sale analysis, and settlement statement review.
• SEC Financial Reporting: support 10-Q/10-K filings and quarterly earnings data mining.
• Tax: assist with tax compliance reporting and REIT-related analyses.
• Coordinate with Lease, Fixed Assets, Treasury, A/R and A/P groups on ad-hoc projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Property Accounting : Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to reviewing invoice coding, preparing journal entries, preparing property balance sheet and income statement, analyzing fluctuation analysis, and preparing CAM reconciliation and bank reconciliations.

• Real Estate Development : Assist with project set-up process and month-end close activities, including but not limited to, preparing journal entries for construction accrual and WIP transfer, and preparing monthly construction reporting schedules.

• Transactions : Perform purchase accounting analysis, sale analysis, and settlement statement review.

• SEC Financial Reporting : Perform ad-hoc analysis and reconciliations to support external reporting requirements such as 10Q/10K and Supplemental SEC filings. Assist with mining data to present useful information for quarterly earnings release.

• Tax: Assist with preparation of tax compliance reporting, including preparation of support for tax returns and REIT compliance analysis.

• Other functional accounting groups : Assist various functional accounting teams such as Lease Accounting, Fixed Assets, Amenities, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable with various ad-hoc projects and analysis

The expected base hourly wage range for this position is $ 52.88 to $64.90 USD hourly, plus an annual discretionary bonus. This hourly wage range is an estimate, and the actual hourly wage may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
