Job summary

Bed Bath & Beyond is seeking a hands-on accounting professional in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to lead inventory accounting, GL, and cost analysis. You will perform monthly and year-end closings, prepare reports, and support audits. This role requires 3+ years of GL experience, inventory/COGS expertise, and a CPA-friendly background.

Join a team focused on accuracy, cross-department collaboration, and confidential handling of information while contributing to budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Accounting with concentration in accounting.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 3+ years of General Ledger experience.
  • Inventory/COGS experience strongly preferred.
  • Retail experience a plus.
  • Based in Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory accounting transactions and related reconciliations.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial reports and variance analysis.
  • Assist with audits and budget processes.
  • Coordinate with other departments on accounting inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for inventory accounting transactions, including but not limited to shrink, out of stock inventory movements, in-transit inventory, cost of sales analysis, product and freight receipts analysis, as well as stock ledger maintenance and reporting
  • Responsible for all inventory related reconciliations
  • Oversee other expense categories as assigned, including monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Communicate regularly with other departments on accounting related questions
  • Assist with interim and year-end audits
  • Assist in preparation of financial reports and monthly financial statement review
  • Support the annual budget and forecasting process as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information
  • Consistently arrive promptly to work the assigned schedule
  • Perform all other assigned duties
Experience and Skills Required

Education: BS or BA, concentration in Accounting CPA or CPA candidate preferred 3+ years of General Ledger experience Inventory/COGS experience is strongly preferred Retail experience a plus Based in Dallas/Ft. Worth area Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once Possess focused attention to detail and solid organizational and prioritization skills while working quickly and accurately under pressure Professional manner and strong communication skills internally and with outside vendor partners Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information Ability to work within and exemplify The Container Store brand which we describe as matchless, fun, authentic, team, sustainable, life-changing, unique, trust and partnership
