Job summary

Ledgent is seeking a Senior Accountant in Sacramento, CA to join our client's Accounting team. This role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, and coordinating external audits, with a clear path to advance into an Accounting Manager position as the organization grows.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years of experience, GAAP expertise, and strong Excel skills. Preference for those with supervision experience and hands-on work with Sage Intacct or NetSuite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
• Direct experience preparing for and participating in external audits.
• Experience working directly with auditors and managing audit requests.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Coordinate and support annual financial statement audits.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors during audit fieldwork.
• Respond to auditor requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with implementing audit recommendations and strengthening internal controls.
• Support compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform account analysis and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Assist with developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures.
• Participate in special projects related to process improvement and system enhancements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance functions.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to junior accounting staff.
• Assist with training and onboarding accounting team members.
• Provide leadership support on key accounting projects and initiatives.
• Contribute to departmental planning and decision-making.
• Prepare for future advancement into Accounting Manager role.
