  • Monitors engagement progress, budgets, deadlines, and information requests.
  • Communicates with clients regarding engagement requirements and status.
  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships and provides excellent client service.
  • Researches accounting and assurance issues and recommends solutions.
  • Identifies significant or unusual matters and communicates them.
  • Ensures engagement files meet Firm standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable accounting standards.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant – Audit provides audit and accounting services to a variety of clients, including owner‑managed businesses, nonprofit organizations, and privately held entities. This position is responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day planning, fieldwork, and completion of review and compilation engagements, with exposure to audit and agreed‑upon procedures.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and completes assigned assurance engagements from planning through finalization.
  • Performs audit, review, and compilation procedures as assigned.
  • Completes complex areas of engagements with minimal supervision.
  • Prepares and reviews financial statements, disclosures, and related working papers in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Firm requirements.
  • Reviews work prepared by staff accountants and provides clear and constructive review notes.
  • Supervises, trains, and provides guidance to staff on engagement procedures and accounting matters.
  • Monitors engagement progress, budgets, deadlines, and outstanding client information.
  • Communicates with clients regarding engagement requirements, accounting questions, information requests, and engagement status.
  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships and provides excellent client service.
  • Researches accounting and assurance issues and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies significant or unusual matters and communicates them to the appropriate manager or partner.
  • Ensures engagement files and financial statements are complete, accurate, and meet Firm standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable accounting and assurance standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles.
  • Working knowledge of assurance and professional standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.

Education and Experience
  • Accounting degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three or more years of experience performing accounting functions of varying complexity.
  • Experience working in public accounting or with the Auditor of Public Accounts is preferred.
  • CPA designation or CPA eligibility preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
