Job summary

Western Reserve Land Conservancy in Moreland Hills, Ohio, seeks a Senior Accountant & Budget Analyst to manage daily, monthly and annual general ledger activities, using NetSuite, Salesforce and other financial systems to produce reports.

The role collaborates with operating departments on the budget process, monitors expenses, supports audits, tax returns and program analysis, and contributes to continuous improvement within a nonprofit finance team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance and/or business management required.
• At least 5 years of accounting and reporting experience with focus on general ledger accounting and program analysis, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
• Strong working knowledge of NetSuite, Salesforce and MS Office Products, including SharePoint.
• Strong detail orientation coupled with ability to review financial information and records.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and receivables processes to ensure alignment with general ledger and budget.
• Reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, payables and accruals.
• Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Support the Project Management Team by producing project department reports upon request.
• Support annual audit through preparation of supporting schedules and worksheets and field work support.
• Support preparation of annual tax returns through preparation of supporting schedules and worksheets and providing general support.
• Adhere to established internal control policies and procedures.
• Process bi-monthly Land Conservancy payroll including managing benefit vendors and updates.
• Work directly with Human Resources to ensure benefits and compensation are properly recorded in payroll system.
• Run reports and manage timesheets for recording in the financial software.
• Support the annual budget process including preparing timelines, communications, workbooks and working with departments to draft budgets.
• Support the Program and Development teams by creating budgets for projects or grants and providing reports as required.
• Consolidate multi department and program reports to support the annual organizational budget.
• Along with all staff members, contribute to a positive organizational culture by providing strong communications, supporting the Land Conservancy’s values, and demonstrating a willingness to collaborate, learn and develop.
• Pursue continuous learning about conservation, nonprofit accounting, grant funding and related issues.
• Attend Board Finance Committee, Audit Committee and Investment Committee meetings and take minutes.
• Other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Western Reserve Land Conservancy has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant and Budget Analyst. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will be located at Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s Conservation Center in Moreland Hills, Ohio.

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $62,000 to $72,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and the position is eligible for benefits.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Accountant & Budget Analyst(“Senior Accountant”) will be responsible for daily, monthly and annual general ledger accounting activities for the Land Conservancy. This individual will use NetSuite, Salesforce and other financial systems to produce reports and analyze data. The Senior Accountant is expected to handle multiple monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation and closing activities. They will collaborate with and support the operating department’s budget process, including monitoring expenses with regularly scheduled leadership meetings. The collaboration ranges from providing budgets and reports, to managing program performance indicators and processes such as cash flow projections and scenario planning.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

General Ledger Accounting and Reporting
