Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking an advanced level Senior Accountant to maintain and control assigned accounting systems within the Finance Department. The role supports the General Accounting group and contributes to accurate financial reporting and cross-training opportunities.

Ideal candidates will perform complex accounting tasks, analyze financial data, prepare statements, and assist with budget and statutory reporting in compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Two years of increasingly responsible advanced accounting experience.
• Experience in general accounting, financial statements, fund analysis, and audits preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced accounting tasks to support policies and uphold accounting practices.
• Record, reconcile, and analyze financial data including interfund transfers, billings, receivables, payables, notes and loans, leases and other contracts.
• Conduct fluctuation analysis and fund analyses; prepare reports on fund availability and obligations.
• Develop and maintain schedules for subsidiary accounts and ledgers; monitor revenues and expenses.
• Review, audits and process contracts and disbursements; prepare year-end schedules for audits.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial reporting required by laws and regulations.
• Provide staff training and guidance; may supervise professionals or staff.
