Base pay range: $66,951.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr

Duties

The NYSED Office of the Chief Financial Officer is seeking candidates for a Senior Accountant position in the Rate Setting Unit. Responsibilities include:

  • Calculate and process accurate tuition rates for providers according to applicable laws, manuals, and protocols.
  • Prepare correspondence regarding information requests and tuition rate notifications.
  • Respond to tuition rate appeals and waivers for school age and pre-school providers.
  • Provide technical assistance on rate setting and calculations.
  • Perform data analysis, prepare reports, and complete special assignments.
Minimum Qualifications

This position is part of the NY HELPS program, which allows for non-competitive appointments initially, with potential for conversion to permanent competitive status.

For NY HELPS candidates: Must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications:

  • Accountant Trainee 1: Bachelor's in accounting, auditing, or taxation OR a bachelor’s degree plus 24 semester credit hours in these areas.
  • Senior Accountant: Bachelor's in accounting, auditing, or taxation plus two years of professional experience, or a master’s degree plus one year, or a valid CPA license.

Additional Comments

This is a contingent-permanent or contingent non-competitive appointment. Telecommuting up to 30% is permitted. Salary varies by level and experience, starting from $53,764 for trainees and up to $85,138 for full senior accountant roles.
