Job summary

Strativia is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide advanced federal accounting, financial reporting, and audit-support services in a hybrid DC-area environment. You will help ensure accurate financial information and support budget execution and resource management.

The ideal candidate has federal accounting experience with Oracle Federal Financials and Sunflower, strong analytical skills, and a detail-oriented approach to reporting and compliance. This role requires onsite support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CGFM certification preferred.
  • Experience with federal accounting and audit support.
  • Experience with Oracle Federal Financials and Sunflower.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Perform federal accounting activities for day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
  • Assist with budget execution and resource tracking.
  • Support audit readiness and documentation requests.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for timely reporting.

Job description

Purpose:

The Senior Accountant provides advanced accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and audit-support services in support of a federal mission‑support program. This position will help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while supporting budget execution, resource management, and broader financial operations for the client.

The ideal candidate will have strong federal accounting experience, knowledge of general ledger and financial reporting processes, and experience working with federal financial systems and audit requirements. The role will operate in a hybrid environment, with onsite support required as operational needs dictate.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform federal accounting activities in support of day‑to‑day financial operations.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and related financial records.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies or variances.
  • Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end financial close activities as required.
  • Assist with budget execution and financial resource tracking.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management and client decision‑making.
  • Support audit readiness and respond to requests for financial documentation and supporting records.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of financial data used for operational reporting, budget execution, and resource management.
  • Ensure financial information is consistent with applicable federal accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the review and validation of financial transactions for accuracy and proper classification.
  • Assist with internal controls, documentation, and financial process improvement activities.
  • Work with federal financial and property systems such as Oracle Federal Financials and Sunflower, as applicable.
  • Coordinate with budget, finance, program, and operational stakeholders to resolve financial issues and support timely reporting.
  • Maintain accurate, well‑organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Protect sensitive financial and client information in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Perform other accounting and financial‑management duties as assigned in support of program objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CGFM certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal accounting and financial‑management processes.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support.
  • Experience with federal financial systems such as Oracle Federal Financials preferred.
  • Experience with property or asset systems such as Sunflower preferred.
  • Knowledge of FASB, GAAP, and applicable federal accounting standards and requirements.
  • Experience supporting budget execution and financial resource analysis preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, fast‑paced federal support environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
