Job summary

F5 Networks, Inc. is seeking an accounting professional to lead the close process, ensure US GAAP compliance, and strengthen internal controls in a hybrid Seattle-based role.

You will own intercompany processes, manage prepayments for multi-year contracts, and collaborate with Procurement, IT, FP&A and auditors to drive accurate financial reporting and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public companies or high-growth organizations.
  • Experience in managing the accounting close, internal reporting, and SOX controls.
  • Experience with Oracle, Coupa, Blackline, and AI-enabled financial tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of prepayments for multi-year contracts, including accruals, capitalization, amortization, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and F5 policies.
  • Own intercompany cross-charge schedules, review and organize transactions for invoicing, and collaborate with worldwide accounting teams to prepare reconciliations.
  • Create and maintain accrued expense subledgers.
  • Partner with Procurement, IT, FP&A, and other departments to evaluate expenditure requests and document conclusions.
  • Serve as a key resource for international accounting teams and support auditors during audits.
  • Develop, implement, and execute internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting & Compliance
  • Accounting: Oversee the full lifecycle of prepayments for multi-year contracts, including accruals, capitalization, amortization, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and F5 policies.
  • Own intercompany cross‑charge schedules, review and organize transactions for invoicing, and collaborate with worldwide accounting teams to prepare reconciliations.
  • Create and maintain accrued expense subledgers.
  • Partner with Procurement, IT, PD, FP&A, and other departments to evaluate expenditure requests, determine proper accounting treatment, and document supporting conclusions.
  • Serve as a key resource for international accounting teams, collaborating on recurring and ad‑hoc efforts and reporting needs.
  • Own the accounting for your area, anchored in the monthly accounting close process, identify opportunities for standardization, efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
  • Willingly explore new projects, problem‑solving, and cross‑departmental enhancements as needed.
  • Compliance: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
  • Develop, implement, and execute relevant internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
Qualifications
  • Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public companies or high‑growth organizations.
  • Proven expertise in managing the accounting close process, including internal reporting, fluctuation analysis, and execution of SOX internal controls in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in working within financial ERP systems (Oracle, Coupa, etc.), reconciliation tools (Blackline), and AI and financial automation tools, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expert in US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to partner with other levels in the organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to apply judgment to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and elevate risks and issues to leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Possess a critical thinking mindset.
  • Experience within the technology industry is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is a hybrid role, located within F5’s Seattle-based headquarters. Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).

Hybrid and Remote Work Policy

Hybrid: Employees within 30 commutable miles of an F5 office are required to work from the office a minimum of 30 business days per quarter.

Remote: Primarily work from a designated home location but can come into an F5 office to work or travel to an offsite location as needed.

The annual base pay for this position is: $89,800.00 - $134,600.00
