Job summary

VSCO is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team in San Francisco. This hands-on role offers ownership of month-end close, general ledger, audit readiness, and system automation as we modernize our finance stack.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you will optimize workflows, partner across the finance org, and help scale processes for a fast-growing company. A CPA is nice to have; 4–6 years of experience required; hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience with direct ownership of recurring month-end close responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience working within an ERP and confidence learning new financial systems and tools.
• Ability to independently own workstreams, solve problems, and manage competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the broader business context.
• Clear, thoughtful written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive mindset and genuine interest in improving systems and processes rather than simply maintain them.
• Comfort working in a lean, collaborative environment where priorities can evolve quickly.

Responsibilities

• Own key month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, prepaid schedules, and related journal entries
• Prepare accurate journal entries and maintain clear, audit-ready supporting documentation
• Maintain and monitor day-to-day general ledger activity in Campfire
• Partner with the Director of Accounting to continuously improve the speed, accuracy, and scalability of the close process
• Play a key role in the implementation and automation of our AP and expense platform, including workflow design, coding rules, and process improvements
• Strengthen reconciliation, documentation, and accounting processes in preparation for upcoming audits
• Identify inefficiencies across AP, expenses, and the close process and take ownership of implementing practical solutions
• Explore responsible ways to leverage AI and automation to reduce repetitive work and improve accounting workflows
• Support internal and external audit requests and help maintain strong, scalable accounting controls
• Partner cross-functionally with teams across VSCO as accounting needs and business priorities evolve

About The Role

VSCO is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team and play an important role in both the day-to-day execution and continued evolution of our accounting operations.

Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership across the month-end close, general ledger, audit readiness, and accounting systems and automation. You’ll own key areas of the close while also helping us build smarter, more scalable processes as VSCO continues to grow.

This is a great opportunity for an accountant who has built a strong technical foundation and is ready for greater ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to improve how an accounting function operates.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Own meaningful portions of the month-end close from start to finish
• Partner directly with the Director of Accounting and gain visibility across the broader finance organization
• Help modernize and automate accounting workflows
• Play a key role in optimizing our ERP and AP and expense technology
• Identify opportunities to make our close faster, more accurate, and more scalable
• Build processes that can grow with the business rather than simply maintain what already exists

We are currently optimizing our ERP, Campfire, and evaluating opportunities to streamline our AP and expense technology stack. You’ll be an important partner in that work and will have the opportunity to influence how our accounting infrastructure evolves.

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, designed for someone who values the flexibility of focused work alongside intentional in-person collaboration with teammates and cross-functional partners.

Compensation

The base salary for this position will vary based on several factors, such as relevant experience, location and your approved internal leveling assessed during the interview process. The base salary range for this role is $135,000 - $145,000. Salary is one component of our total compensation package. This position also qualifies for equity (i.e. stock options) and is eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance.

The benefits available for this position include flexible time off, a 401K retirement plan, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, short and long term disability), and 11 paid holidays. We also provide paid sick time as required by state and local law. Additional benefits and perks contained in our standard employee benefits package are also offered for this position.
