Green Key Resources in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance and Accounting team. You will support the Accounting Manager in maintaining accurate general ledger records and ensure close process integrity across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating with Accounts Payable and other Finance stakeholders to improve reporting, controls, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record general ledger journal entries in accordance with accounting policies.
  • Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support close processes and prepare financial statements and schedules.
  • Maintain well-organized accounting documentation and audit trails.
  • Apply U.S. GAAP and internal policies to daily activities and controls.
  • Prepare and analyze financial information for management reporting and decision-making.
  • Own consolidation and FP&A responsibilities, including variance analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and projections.
  • Identify trends, investigate variances, and communicate insights to Finance leadership.
  • Coordinate with auditors and maintain internal controls during audits.
  • Maintain NetSuite records, resolve system issues, and improve data integrity.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to the Finance and Accounting team, supporting the Accounting Manager in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of the general ledger. This role will take ownership of critical accounting activities throughout the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, while contributing to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and process enhancement initiatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing assigned accounting functions independently, analyzing financial information, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies. This position provides an opportunity to work cross-functionally with Finance and Accounting professionals while contributing to projects that improve reporting capabilities, operational efficiency, and financial controls.

This position reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with the Accounts Payable team and other Finance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record general ledger journal entries, ensuring transactions are accurately classified, properly supported, and recorded in accordance with established accounting policies.
  • Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate unusual activity, and resolve discrepancies to maintain the accuracy of financial records.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by completing assigned accounting activities, preparing financial statements, and developing supporting schedules.
  • Maintain well-organized accounting documentation and audit trails to support financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Apply U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies to daily activities, ensuring adherence to established controls and procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze financial information to support management reporting and business decision-making.
  • Own assigned firmwide consolidation and FP&A responsibilities, including budget-to-actual variance analysis, expense classification, and management reporting.
  • Assist with the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and financial projections in partnership with the Accounting Manager.
  • Identify trends, investigate variances, and communicate relevant financial insights to Finance leadership.

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate assigned requests from internal and external auditors, providing accurate schedules, supporting documentation, and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and effectiveness of internal accounting controls.
  • Ensure financial records and reporting activities are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting standards.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accounting records and financial reporting within NetSuite, ensuring data integrity and accurate system activity.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving accounting system issues, reporting discrepancies, and data-related challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance accounting processes, reporting workflows, and internal controls.
  • Participate in accounting technology initiatives and other Finance projects designed to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable team, and broader Finance organization to meet reporting deadlines and support business objectives.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
