Job summary

Crystal D is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant in Saint Paul, MN to own portions of monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will work directly with our Controller in a small team, with real ownership from day one and opportunities to mentor others and improve processes.

This role handles journal entries, reconciliations, distributions, AP/AR activities, financial statements, and year-end coordination with external CPA firms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 to 5 years of general ledger accounting experience, including month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of GAAP.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Experience with an ERP system (Macola, Synergy, or similar) preferred.
• CPA or progress toward a CPA a plus.
• Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own key pieces of the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset activity, and help keep the close on schedule.
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, research variances, and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare monthly distributions and calculate and process commission payouts, making sure figures tie back to the general ledger.
• Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, and serve as a resource for the accounting clerk and AR team member.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the Controller and leadership team.
• Support monthly bank compliance reporting and covenant calculations.
• Assist with the annual budget, periodic reforecasts, and variance analysis.
• Support year-end work with our outside CPA firm, including tax and audit requests.
• Maintain accurate records in our Macola ERP system and Synergy, and help improve processes, controls, and reporting.
• Train and support newer team members on accounting procedures.
