Job summary

The Senior Accountant at Tasty Restaurant Group will manage month-end close for our multi-brand restaurant portfolio, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting while upholding strong internal controls and GAAP compliance. This role will support general ledger activity and provide insightful financial analysis across locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in restaurant, retail, hospitality, or multi-unit environments preferred.
  • Public accounting experience a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities including month-, quarter-, and year-end close.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts (balance sheet and income statement).
  • Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting packages.
  • Prepare bank, credit card, and account reconciliations; investigate variances; support internal controls and SOX processes.

Job description

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting for Tasty Restaurant Group’s multi-brand restaurant portfolio. This position is responsible for month-end close activities, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and experience supporting fast-paced, multi-unit operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting packages
Reconciliations & Controls
  • Prepare timely and accurate bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve variances or discrepancies
  • Support internal controls and SOX-related processes (if applicable)
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and GAAP standards
  • Support accounting for multiple restaurant brands and locations across various states
  • Partner with Operations, Payroll, AP, and FP&A to resolve accounting issues
  • Assist with labor, COGS, and operating expense analysis
  • Support audit requests and documentation related to restaurant operations
Process Improvement & Projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiencies, and controls
  • Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and integrations
  • Support special projects, acquisitions, or new restaurant openings as needed
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Staff Accountants or Accounting Clerks
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in restaurant, retail, hospitality, or multi-unit environments preferred
  • Public accounting experience a plus but not required
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with accounting systems and ERPs (restaurant or multi-entity systems preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Experience working with payroll, AP, and fixed assets
