Firewater Response LLC is seeking a highly organized, analytical Senior Accountant to join our team. This position plays a critical role within the Accounting department, ensuring financial accuracy and consistency across multiple entities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience within the construction industry, and a proactive mindset toward technology and process improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets and profit/loss statements, and assist with month‑end & year‑end close processes.
  • Accurately allocate costs to specific construction jobs, phases, and cost codes.
  • Manage accounting activities related to real estate portfolios, including leases, expenses, capital improvements, and inter‑company allocations.
  • Review and process contractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms and proper documentation.
  • Preparation and issuing timely payments via checks, ACH, wire transfers to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Vendor management, maintaining vendor records, communicating with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders, including job cost reports and cash flow projections.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including payroll taxes, use tax, and 1099 reporting.
  • Support quarterly estimated tax payments and maintain documentation for deductions and write‑offs.
  • Report on common construction‑related write‑offs such as materials, equipment rentals, travel expenses, depreciation, insurance and professional services.
  • Actively participate in the rollout and implementation of new accounting systems including training team members and troubleshooting issues.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure seamless integration of financial tools into daily workflows.
  • Assist with audits, provide documentation to external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial data at all times.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Construction, Real Estate, and/or Equipment Leasing background strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of job costing and contractor billing.
  • Proficiency in ERP accounting software and Excel.
  • Experience with software implementation or upgrades is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team‑player and able to work well/closely with others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

This is an in‑Office position Monday – Friday, this is NOT a remote position.
