Job summary

Kearfott Corporation, a long-standing aerospace and defense supplier, seeks a Senior Accountant to strengthen financial reporting and manufacturing cost controls. You will work with Operations, Engineering, and Program Management to ensure accurate accounting for assets, costs, and revenues.

The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong Excel and ERP experience, capable of supporting audits and continuous process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition.
  • Experience accounting for fixed assets and capital projects.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and manufacturing cost accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Costpoint, LN, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting and reporting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and periodic physical verification.
  • Review and process capital expenditure requests, ensuring proper approvals, accounting treatment, and budget compliance.
  • Support revenue recognition and customer billing activities in accordance with ASC 606, including contract reviews, milestone billing, and reconciliation of contract balances.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Lead assigned responsibilities within the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process.
  • Prepare and analyze inventory reconciliations, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Partner with Operations to investigate inventory variances and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with standard cost updates and manufacturing cost analyses.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to accounting processes, financial reporting, and ERP system enhancements.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other accounting duties as assigned.

Senior Accountant
Overview

Kearfott Corporation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the company's financial operations by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting manufacturing and government contracting activities.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced aerospace environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional departments including Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the accounting and reporting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and periodic physical verification.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Accounting Degree is required; MBA preferred.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with government contracting and familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Experience supporting SOX or other internal control frameworks.
  • Knowledge of standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Experience with Power BI or other financial reporting tools is a plus.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $115,000 - $165,000 annualy. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
