Job summary

MidCentral Energy, with its headquarters in OKC and field offices nationwide, seeks a Senior Accountant to own AR, close, and balance sheet integrity. You’ll partner with operations to apply sound accounting judgment under centralized standards.

The role focuses on monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and process improvements across AR, close, and reporting, while supporting audits and ensuring accuracy in NetSuite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5 years of accounting experience in journal entries, reconciliations, month/year end close, financial reporting.
• Ability to work extended hours during month-end close or audits.
• GAAP knowledge and internal controls experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute and support the monthly close for MidCentral and related entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with policy.
• Own assigned balance sheet accounts with full reconciliation and issue resolution.
• Maintain close schedules and ensure timely close deliverables.
• Own AR execution, billing support, and collections follow-up.
• Monitor AR aging and escalate collection risks.
• Support audits with documentation.
• Maintain NetSuite accuracy and reporting integrity.
• Participate in process improvements for close, AR, and reporting.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is a control-critical role responsible for accounts receivable ownership, balance sheet integrity, and timely close execution across the MidCentral platform. This position partners closely with operations and applies sound accounting judgment while operating within centralized corporate accounting standards.

Essential Functions

Platform Accounting & Close

• Execute and support the monthly close for MidCentral and related entities
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with corporate accounting policy
• Own assigned balance sheet accounts, including full reconciliation, support, and issue resolution
• Maintain close schedules and ensure timely completion of close deliverables
• Partner with management and operations to resolve accounting issues and judgment items

Accounts Receivable & Working Capital

• Own AR execution, billing support, and collections follow-up
• Monitor AR aging and escalateg collection risks proactively
• Work closely with sales and operations to resolve billing disputes and timing issues
• Support working capital discipline through accurate cutoff and follow-up

Financial Integrity & Controls

• Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently
• Support internal and external audit requests with complete documentation
• Maintain strong cutoff discipline and accrual accuracy
• Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements

Systems & Process

• Support NetSuite transactional accuracy and reporting integrity
• Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation
• Participate in process improvement initiatives related to close, AR, and reporting
• Cross-train with other accounting team members to ensure coverage and continuity

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field

Five (5) years of accounting experience in journal entries, reconciliations, month/year end close, financial reporting.
