North County Transit District seeks a Senior Accountant to support the Controller by preparing complex general ledger entries and reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the District's general ledger. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, ERP experience (JD Edwards), and excellent communication skills.
The position involves analyzing ledgers, preparing financial statements, and assisting with year-end audits across multiple sites, with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting.
Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant prepares complex general ledger entries and account reconciliations. S/he works with the Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the District’s general ledger.
This position is distinguished among accounting positions by the requirements for an increased level of knowledge and application of accounting principles and accounting software, a greater understanding of the interrelationships among accounting functions, and ability to exercise more independent judgment in performing accounting functions.
This position reports to the Controller and may exercise supervisory authority on a limited basis in support of assigned projects assignments and Division initiatives. This position is expected to participate in the sharing of expert knowledge and as a vital member of various project teams that may be instituted.
