Job summary

Ridgeview in Oak Ridge, TN, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to support the Controller with an initial focus on grant management.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in accounting with GAAP knowledge and 3+ years in nonprofit or hospital finance, plus advanced Excel skills.

You will manage journal entries, maintain the general ledger, prepare reports for the board and regulators, and back up the Controller as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with accounting concentration required.
• Three or more years’ hands-on experience and knowledge of GAAP required, preferably in hospital or nonprofit environment.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong technical accounting skills and proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure the integrity of the accounting books and records and prepare financial reports for the board, management, program leadership, and outside parties.
• Understand and manage Ridgeview's grants and their varying requirements in coordination with the accounting team.
• Backup the Controller as necessary.
• Maintain general ledger and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Organize financial information in secure electronic folders.

RIDGEVIEW, a nonprofit community mental health center and hospital headquartered in Oak Ridge, TN, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant. This new position will provide direct support to our Controller, with an initial focus on grant management.

Ridgeview provides a wide range of outpatient programs and services throughout a six-county geographic region, including Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane, Scott, and Fentress counties. Ridgeview also operates a 16 bed Joint Commission accredited adult inpatient unit at our main center in Oak Ridge. Ridgeview receives funding from Medicare, Medicaid/TennCare, commercial insurance, federal, state and local funding sources.

Job Duties

The Senior Accountant’s primary responsibility will be to manage and ensure the integrity of the accounting books and records and to prepare various financial reports for the board, management, program leadership, and outside parties such as federal, state, and other stakeholders. Ridgeview has numerous grants with varying requirements that the Senior Accountant will be responsible for understanding and managing in concert with other accounting team members. The Senior Accountant is responsible for backing up the Controller as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
• Prepares and records journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses through analysis of financial activity and supporting documentation.
• Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
• Supports the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, and reporting deadlines are met.
• Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
• Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
• Organizes financial information in secure electronic folders.
