Catalent, based in Chelsea, MA, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance team for a full-time, on-site role. You will support month-end close, provide GAAP-compliant journal entries, and assist with budgeting and SOX controls.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting, 4+ years of GAAP experience (public accounting a plus), and strong MS Office/GL skills. On-site duties may include light lifting and regular sit/stand movement.

  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Office and general ledger systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end and quarter-end closing tasks with journal entries per US GAAP.
  • Ensure timely reconciliations, schedules, and analyses per close calendar.
  • Maintain month-end folders and support budgeting/forecasting processes.
  • Assist with SOX controls and intercompany/inventory close tasks.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Senior Accountant

Position Summary:
  • Full time salaried position
  • Onsite based out of our Chelsea, MA location

The Senior Accountant is responsible for working closely with the Finance team to ensure a smooth, timely month-end close process. This individual provides assistance with SOX compliance and is involved in the annual budgeting process.

The Boston-area facility is Catalent's global Center of Excellence for spray dry dispersion and Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacture and packaging. The site features inhaled powder spray drying, as well as multiple commercial scale lines for capsule filling and blister packaging, with potent filling capacity for up to 100 million capsules annually.

The Role:
  • Performs and assists with month-end and quarter-end closing accounting tasks including preparation/input of journal entries ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Ensures that reconciliations and supporting schedules and analysis are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with the monthly closing schedule
  • Prepares and maintains month-end closing shared folders
  • Preparation and assistance with month-end analytical review of actuals versus budget/forecast
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Provides assistance with SOX compliance by ensuring internal controls are adhered to
  • Provides assistance to Sr. Manager Financial Operations and Accounting on quarter-end inventory close and various analyses
  • Other duties as assigned
The Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, required
  • Minimum four years of experience and with solid understanding of GAAP, required
  • Experience in public accounting, preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in MS Office Suite, and experience with general ledger systems
  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds

The anticipated salary range for this position in Massachusetts is $89,000 - $122,000, plus bonus, when eligible. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
