Job summary

Christ Fellowship Church seeks a Senior Accountant to join our Palm Beach Gardens finance team. You will oversee core general accounting functions, guide monthly financial analysis, manage capital requisitions, and lead the annual audit to strengthen financial stewardship.

Ideal candidates have a CPA and tax knowledge, strong Excel skills, and a track record of process improvements. This role supports ministry initiatives and requires occasional after-hours work in a faith-aligned environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation preferred.
• 5–7 years of accounting and/or audit experience, church/ministry experience preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel; Sage Intacct and Prophix a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process and ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries in a timely manner.
• Perform reconciliations of GL accounts in line with GAAP and internal policies.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with regulations.
• Manage capital expenditure requests and construction project reporting.
• Collaborate with departments to provide reports and financial insights.
• Participate in special projects and maintain financial systems and policies.
• Coordinate the annual audit with external auditors.
• Support life-of-the-church events and occasional after-hours or weekend work.

JOB SUMMARY

Are you a finance professional looking to use your accounting skills to directly support kingdom work? Christ Fellowship is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team at our Palm Beach Gardens location.

Overseeing core general accounting functions, you will play a vital role in guiding leadership through monthly financial analysis, managing the capital requisition process, and leading our annual audit. Beyond managing numbers and applying your strong technical accounting background, ideally backed by a CPA and tax knowledge, you will drive key process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the monthly close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
• Prepare and/or review general ledger entries accurately and timely.
• Perform and/or review reconciliations of various accounts within the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage capital expenditure requests and construction project reporting.
• Work closely with other departments to provide reports, financial insights, and support.
• Participating in special projects and helping develop and maintain financial systems and policies.
• Coordinate annual audit between the finance team and the external auditing firm.
• Participate in other “life of the church” events, such as Infuse, Christmas, and Easter.
• Be available for an occasional, flexible work schedule for after-hours or weekend assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Faith Alignment: A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, an active attendee at a local Christian church, and alignment with the mission and values of Christ Fellowship Church.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA designation preferred.
• Relevant Work Experience: 5 - 7 years of accounting and/or audit experience, with a focus on church or ministry organizations preferred (public accounting or corporate background welcome).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Sage Intacct and Prophix is a plus.
• Core Competencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision within assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance ministry leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a proven track record of driving process improvements across teams.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance is beneficial.
