Job summary

Tomo Mortgage LLC in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the month-end close process and manage complex general ledger accounting in a fast-paced fintech environment.

You will perform GL, reconciliations, fixed assets, lease accounting (ASC 842), accruals, intercompany, and financial reporting support. You will document processes, contribute to audits, and ensure accurate coding and timely close. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on GL accounting experience.
• Strong experience with month-end close processes, bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and lease accounting (ASC 842).
• Corporate accounting experience in fast-paced or growing organizations.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Dynamics 365, or Workday.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with GL reconciliation tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries.
• Perform GL, balance sheet, intercompany, and bank reconciliations.
• Analyze account activity and prepare variance explanations.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
• Manage lease accounting entries (ASC 842 or similar).
• Prepare and maintain accrual schedules and supporting documentation.
• Support financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Ensure accurate account coding and classification.
• Support AP processes, including invoice and credit card expense review.
• Document and improve accounting processes and procedures.
• Assist with training and process improvements.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to help assist with our month-end close process and manage complex general ledger accounting functions. This role is focused primarily on technical accounting, with additional operational support responsibilities. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience with GL reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial close processes, along with exceptional attention to detail in a fast‑paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting (75%)

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries
• Perform GL, balance sheet, intercompany, and bank reconciliations
• Analyze account activity and prepare variance explanations
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Manage lease accounting entries (ASC 842 or similar)
• Prepare and maintain accrual schedules and supporting documentation
• Support financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies

Operational Support (25%)

• Support AP processes, including invoice and credit card expense review

Required Experience

• 4+ years of hands‑on general ledger accounting experience
• Strong experience with:
  • Month-end close processes
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • Lease accounting (ASC 842 or similar)
  • Accrual accounting and journal entries
• Corporate accounting experience
• Experience working in fast‑paced or growing organizations

Technical Skills

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Dynamics 365, Workday, or similar
• Advanced Excel skills
• Familiarity with GL reconciliation tools preferred

• Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite, LoanVision, Ramp, FloQast, or similar)
• Multi‑entity or multi‑location accounting experience
• Process improvement or accounting system implementation experience
