StevenDouglas is partnering with a well-established organization in Bergen County to identify a skilled accounting professional to support and strengthen its financial operations. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls, and supporting leadership with timely financial insights in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process from start to finish, ensuring all entries, accruals, and adjustments are completed accurately and on schedule
- Prepare internal and external financial reports, including consolidated statements and performance analyses for management review
- Conduct detailed balance sheet and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances and discrepancies
- Experience with accounting for Fixed Assets, Inventory and prepaid/deferral accounts)
- Analyze financial results, identifying trends and explaining period-over-period fluctuations
- Review, document, and enhance accounting processes and internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and special financial projects as needed, including ad hoc reporting requests
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is a must
- 3–5 years of hands‑on accounting experience with strong exposure to general ledger and close activities
- Solid understanding of GAAP and experience supporting audits or compliance initiatives
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of ERP or accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
