Job summary

AbbVie in Westport is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Operations Finance team. The role leads the financial close, FP&A, and reporting for a key business unit, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive efficiency and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate holds a recognized accounting qualification and a third-level degree in business/accounting, with experience in manufacturing or multinational environments, plus SAP

• Experience within a global manufacturing environment or multinational preferred.
• SAP and Blackline experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary finance contact for a designated business unit or function.
• Lead month-end close processes including journal preparation and variance analysis.
• Oversee FP&A including monthly forecasts, annual budgets and long-range planning.
• Monitor, analyze, and report key financial metrics to senior management and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure all accounting and reporting procedures comply with SOX and internal controls.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations through Blackline.
• Champion process improvement initiatives to deliver business objectives.
• Support external and internal audits processes for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing and Operational Excellence.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in Westport.

This role will report to the Operations Accounting Manager. As a critical member of the Operations Finance department, you will serve as the financial lead for a key business unit or support function. partnering with the business leaders to drive strategic initiatives, process improvement and operational excellence. Your expertise will support growth, ensure financial accuracy, and uphold best practices in compliance and reporting as part of our talented finance team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary finance contact for a designated business unit or support function, providing expert financial guidance and support.
• Lead month-end close processes including journal preparation, variance analysis, headcount analysis, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Oversee Financial Planning and analysis for your area including monthly forecasts (LBEs), annual budgets and long-range planning (LRP).
• Monitoring, analyse, and report key financial metrics and business performance to senior management and cross functional departments.
• Ensure all accounting and reporting procedures comply with SOX and internal control guidelines.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations through Blackline.
• Champion process improvement initiatives to deliver business objectives.
• Support external and internal audits processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with cross functional departments including Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing and Operational Excellence.

Qualifications

• You will be a Qualified Accountant with one of the Recognized Accountancy Bodies.
• You will hold a Third level qualification in business/accounting.
• Proven experience working with a fast and dynamic Finance Team.
• Experience within a global manufacturing environment or multinational preferred.
• SAP and Blackline experience is preferred.
• Results driven, striving to meet all targets and metrics set by site/dept and division leaders.
