Senior Accountant

Full Time Professional La Vergne, TN, US

3 days ago Requisition ID: 1367

Location: La Vergne, TN, Hybrid

Brands:Jet, Powermatic, Wilton, Edwards, Baileigh, Axiom

At JPW Industries, we don't just build products, we build careers.
Own the numbers behind the brands that build America's workshops.

Love a clean close? Get a real thrill out of a reconciliation that ties to the penny, or a variance you can explain in one sentence? As our Senior Accountant, you will be a core player on the accounting team, owning key balance sheet and income statement accounts and helping deliver a timely, accurate month-end close. And you will do it at a company that expects you to use AI every day to work smarter.

JPW Industries is a woodworking and metalworking machinery and tools company behind some of the most trusted names in the trade: Jet, Powermatic, Wilton, Edwards, Baileigh, and Axiom. With domestic and international entities, intercompany activity, lender reporting, and a full annual audit, this role offers broad exposure and real influence on how our accounting function runs, modernizes, and scales.

What You Will Own

This is not a narrow, one-account seat. You will own outcomes that leadership relies on every month:

  • A Reliable Close:Journal entries, accruals, allocations, and reconciliations that land on time and hold up to scrutiny.
  • Account Integrity:Well-supported schedules for fixed assets, leases, debt, equity, intangibles, and intercompany balances across entities.
  • Audit and Compliance Readiness:Clean audit support, lender and covenant reporting support, and sales and use tax processes that run smoothly.
  • A Smarter Process:Using AI and automation to shorten the close, strengthen controls, and share what works with the team.
Your First Year: What Success Looks Like
  • You own your assigned close tasks and reconciliations end to end, delivered on the close calendar with minimal review comments.
  • You have supported a full annual audit cycle, preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests quickly and accurately.
  • You have automated or streamlined at least one recurring task using AI or other tools, and shared the approach with the team.
  • You are the go-to person for the accounts you own, able to explain significant variances clearly to the Accounting Manager and stakeholders.
How You'll Spend Your Time
Close the Books
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and allocations in line with the month-end close calendar.
  • Prepare timely balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Perform analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement results and explain significant variances.
  • Maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, leases, debt, equity, intangibles, and intercompany activity across domestic and international entities.
Keep Us Compliant
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation and respond to external auditor requests.
  • Support lender reporting, covenant compliance, and sales and use tax processes with external tax providers.
Research, Improve, and Innovate
  • Research and apply US GAAP guidance to transactions in partnership with the Accounting Manager.
  • Support system implementations, special projects, external specialists, and ad hoc analyses.
  • Use AI tools to automate recurring work, enhance reconciliations and analyses, and continuously improve the close.
What You Will Bring: Expertise. Knowledge. Drive.
  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree in Accounting a plus.
  • Certifications:CPA preferred but not required.
  • Experience:5+ years of progressive general accounting experience with broad exposure to balance sheet and income statement accounts, including month-end and year-end close.
  • Industry:Background in a product focused business such as distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or retail.
  • Technical Accounting:Working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to apply it in practice.
  • Systems:Hands-on SAP experience required. Experience with Workday Adaptive, Prophix, Workiva, Power BI, Alteryx, Avalara, and Claude (or an equivalent AI tool) is highly preferred.
  • Excel:Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
  • AI Fluency:A track record of using AI tools frequently to improve processes and get day-to-day work done.
  • Detail and Problem Solving:High attention to accuracy, plus the critical thinking to thrive where processes are still evolving or not fully documented.
  • Communication:Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Work Location:Based at our La Vergne, TN office, with occasional extended or flexible hours during close and audit periods.
How You Will Show Up: Our "We Are One" Values
  • Accountability:You own your accounts and deadlines and deliver a close others can trust. (We Keep Score & Play to Win)
  • Problem Solving & Innovation:You look for the faster, smarter way, and you reach for AI and automation to get there. (We Believe in Innovation)
  • Communication & Integrity:You keep records complete and honest, and you raise issues early and clearly. (We Act with Integrity)
  • Decision Making:You think about how accurate numbers serve the business, our lenders, and ultimately our customers. (We Think Customer First)
  • Agility & Resilience:You stay steady through close crunches, audit requests, and shifting priorities. (We Keep Score & Play to Win)
