Job summary

Power Solutions International (PSI) seeks a Senior Accountant to ensure the accuracy of ledger entries and reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger. You will support timely financial reporting and implement internal controls, including SOX compliance, while guiding junior staff as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, GAAP proficiency, SEC reporting experience, and strong financial analysis capabilities in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience at an SEC registrant company or public accounting firm with SEC clients.
• Proficient understanding of GAAP.
• Experience running financial reports and complex accounting operations with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing procedures and journal entries.
• Handle warranty accruals, payroll/benefit accounts, prepaid items, debt and fixed assets.
• Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
• Prepare balance sheets, P&L statements, and other financial reports.
• Develop and document policies and procedures for assigned areas.
• Support internal audit and SOX remediation efforts.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. In this role you will maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. Additionally, you may review and guide the work of lower-level accountants. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in timely and accurate financial reporting as well as implementation of controls around operations and SOX compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversee various month-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries and related supporting schedules
• Specific accounting areas include warranty accruals, company payroll/benefit account review, prepaid items, as well as debt and fixed asset management
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Communicate findings as needed throughout the company
• Prepare complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
• Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
• Create financial and accounting ad-hoc reports for analysis by internal and external regulatory audit compliance
• Work on various special projects and perform other accounting assignments as needed
• Develop and document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
• Work with Internal Audit and the Accounting Manager to support the remediation process around internal controls
• Other duties assigned by management

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, in Accounting or Finance
• Accounting experience at an SEC registrant company or public accounting firm with SEC clients.
• Proficient understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience running financial reports and complex accounting operations with minimum supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
• Epicor ERP system knowledge
• Manufacturing industry experience
