  • Strong operational accounting with budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting.
  • Proficient Excel with VLOOKUPs and PivotTables.
  • Blackbaud experience preferred.
  • Willing to learn Daxko.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Analytical skills to analyze financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Handle monthly and year-end financial accounting activities.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Ensure integrity of financial results for program revenues, deferred revenues, receivables; prepare related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform bank and other GL reconciliations.
  • Provide financial support for budgets and monthly reporting including variance reports.
  • Work with CFO and Department Leaders to update budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist Development Department in analysis of contributions, grants, fundraising, and sponsorships.
  • Monthly analysis of Trial Balance/GL and adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare files for audits and work with auditors on confirmations.
  • Identify and improve internal processes to increase efficiency.
  • Responsible for income analysis.
  • Assist with monthly financial/statistical reports.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and 990 tax filing and other gov't reporting.
  • Design and interpret complex financial analysis to support strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in financial performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, and fixed asset life cycle.
  • Support month-end close and maintain close processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization.

The Senior Accountant is an important member of the Finance team, responsible for agency-wide finance functions. The position is principally responsible for the timely and accurate meeting of the fiscal needs. The position requires a team player working with various program, administrative and executive staff. The position may also be assigned other ad hoc projects within finance as required.

WHATYOU'LLDO:

  • Handle monthly and year-end financial accounting activities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Ensure the integrity of financial results related to program revenues, deferred revenues, receivables, and preparation of related standard journal entries and reconciliations
  • Perform bankand other GL reconciliations
  • Provide financial support for transactions, budgets and monthly reporting including variance reports
  • Work with CFO and Department Leaders to update, modify, and analyze budgets and forecasts throughout the year.
  • Assist Development Department in analysis of contributions, grants, fundraising, and sponsorships
  • Perform monthly analysis of Trial Balance/General Ledger and perform adjustments as needed
  • Prepare files for program and agency-wide audits and work with auditor on confirmations
  • Identify and develop ways to improve internal processes to be more efficient and effective

  • Participate actively in the financial performance improvement initiatives ongoing within the Organization.
  • Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, and fixed asset life cycle assuring proper application of capitalization policies
  • Support and progressively take ownership of the month-end-close process exercising sound judgment and keeping close process on track and timely
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in accounting and 5+ years relevant experience
  • Non-profit accounting experience is highly preferred
  • Strong operational accounting experience required, preferably including budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Blackbaud experience ispreferred
  • Daxko knowledge not required, but must be willing to learn
  • Attention to detail - must be quick to analyze, develop and recommend solutions while prioritizing and completing tasks in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities and multi-task
  • Excellent analytic skills and ability to analyze financial reports
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency in completion of tasks, willingness to work a flexible schedule and a commitment to the mission of the organization.
