The Opportunity

The General Accounting Specialist will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of accounting and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting in a manufacturing environment, specific experience with assembly and fabrication processes, and proficiency in the NetSuite ERP system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Oversee all general accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset management.
  • Manufacturing Accounting: Manage and refine the cost accounting system, including labor, overhead, and materials costing, specifically tailored for assembly and fabrication processes. Conduct inventory valuation, tracking, and reconciliation for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Analyze manufacturing variances and provide insightful reports to operations management to drive efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • System Administration: Utilize and maintain the NetSuite ERP system for all financial transactions, reporting, and analysis. Experience with implementation, module setup, or advanced usage of NetSuite is highly desirable.
  • Compliance & Audit: Coordinate and manage the annual external financial review/audit process. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Cash Flow & Budgeting: Monitor daily cash flow and assist in the development of annual operating budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement best‑practice accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure data integrity and safeguard company assets.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in general accounting.
  • Industry Background: Required experience within a manufacturing environment, specifically with assembly and/or fabrication operations (e.g., metalworking, machinery, electronics assembly, etc.).
  • Company Size: Proven track record of success working in a smaller to mid‑sized company setting, where a hands‑on, multi‑faceted approach to accounting is necessary.
  • Technical Skills: Mandatory strong proficiency and hands‑on experience utilizing the NetSuite ERP system; expert‑level knowledge of Microsoft Excel; excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Must be a self‑starter who can manage competing priorities effectively.
