Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Senior Accountant in Dallas, TX to support the investment group’s financial and tax compliance operations. You will handle fund books in MRI, prepare GAAP statements, and assist with audits and capital calls for private equity funds and separate accounts.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in real estate or public accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.

• CPA or significant progress towards CPA is a plus.
• Experience recording journal entries and managing a general ledger.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial statements.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Vice President of Accounting and work closely with other investment team members with respect to the Firm’s financial, accounting, and tax compliance operations.**POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** Support Senior Vice President of Accounting in managing daily accounting and back-office processes for TIG and its private equity funds.* Utilize accounting software (MRI) to manage fund-level books and financial records, including monthly journal entries, general ledger review, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.* Oversee fund level treasury functions including wire set up and bank account management and assisting with capital calls and distributions.* Prepare quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements.* Assist in managing and oversight of third-party fund administrators.* Support annual audit and tax process for each private equity fund and separate account.* Assist with overseeing property level accounting and review monthly property financial statements.* Assist in managing various service providers across the platform including: third party property managers, auditors, tax consultants, and banking relationships.* Manage investor portal website including financial, tax and asset updates and other ad-hoc investor requests.* Perform various ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned.* Communicate effectively with clients, external auditors, tax preparers, and team members, as required.* Opportunity to work directly with large institutional clients in fulfilling investor requests.**Due to the core functions of this role, a consistent, in-office presence for this role must be sustained.****POSITION REQUIREMENTS:*** Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance or accounting.* Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in real estate or public accounting.* Relevant tax experience is preferred.* CPA or significant progress towards CPA is a plus.* Applicable experience in real estate accounting software, preferably with MRI and/or Yardi.* Experience recording journal entries and managing a general ledger.* Knowledge of current accounting methods (cash and basic accruals) along with the ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe.* Substantial quantitative and analytical skills.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Comfortable working in a small, team-oriented environment and with minimal supervision.* Strong work ethic and attention to detail.* Highly organized, able to manage large amounts of written and electronic data.* Motivated and willing to work overtime as needed. **WORK SHIFT:****LOCATION:**Dallas, TX **ABOUT US**Our firm is built on a shared purpose: Empowering good people to do extraordinary things together.
