Job summary

Cobalt Recruitment in Dallas is partnering with a rapidly growing real estate company to hire an experienced Senior Accountant who will manage a team, own close and reporting processes, and help scale the accounting function.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will balance hands-on work with review, collaborate across property management and operations, and support audits and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5+ years accounting experience, ideally with 1-2 years supervisory.
• Solid grounding in US GAAP; real estate accounting background a plus.
• Familiarity with ASC 606 / ASC 842 preferred.
• Sharp analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and deadlines.
• Comfort with Excel and ERP systems (Yardi, NetSuite a plus).
• Flexible, get-it-done mindset as the team grows.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and approving monthly journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations in line with GAAP.
• Owning month-end general ledger review for accuracy and completeness.
• Reviewing AP invoices for correct coding, approvals, and documentation.
• Preparing management fee schedules and balance sheet support schedules.
• Partnering closely with property management and operations teams.
• Supporting annual audits, tax prep, and process improvement initiatives.
• Jumping into ad hoc projects as needs evolve.

We are currently partnering with a rapidly growing Real Estate company in Dallas. Given a recent acquisition, their accounting team is expanding. They are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who's ready to roll up their sleeves, manage a team, take ownership of key close and reporting processes, and help shape how the accounting function scales.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you'll sit at the center of corporate accounting operations, balancing hands-on preparation with review and oversight, and getting exposure to leadership and cross-functional work along the way.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing and approving monthly journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations in line with GAAP
