Job summary

ALO is seeking a Senior Accountant in Commerce, CA to own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, post journal entries, and ensure accurate financial reporting. This hands‑on role emphasizes process improvements, internal controls, and scalable solutions through automation and AI-enabled tools.

The ideal candidate has 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and preferably Big 4 exposure, with a background in consumer products, retail, or eCommerce.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, apparel, or eCommerce environments is a plus.
  • ASC 842 lease accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting processes.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership, prioritize competing deadlines, and drive projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely, accurate completion and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations over assigned areas, including analysis of reconciling items and timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses to support management reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Support external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead initiatives to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operational efficiency through automation, AI‑enabled tools, and scalable solutions.
  • Drive continuous process improvements by leveraging automation, AI-enabled tools, and workflow enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the accounting function.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with FP&A, AP, Legal, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

The base salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000 per year, which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Actual salaries may vary based on location, experience, and performance. This range is one component of the total rewards package for exempt employees; additional rewards may include performance bonuses, long‑term incentives, PTO, and other progressive benefits.
