Job summary

Arvo Advisors in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Accountant to support firm management, provide leadership, and guide team members on all aspects of client work. This role carries significant ownership of client relationships and technical work, with regular opportunity for direct client interaction and consulting.

We offer full-time, in-office work with a focus on tax compliance, financial statement preparation, and proactive advisory services for a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, with progressive experience in tax preparation.
• Experience in tax compliance services for a diverse range of clients is a plus.
• Experience in compilation and bookkeeping is a plus.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, Trust & Individual income tax returns under supervision.
• Make journal entries to generate accurate books and records for clients.
• Respond to clients’ needs, recognize issues, and suggest solutions.
• Research accounting and tax topics relating to specific clients.
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Serve as escalation point for less experienced staff on client work.
• Assist with initiatives to improve workplace efficiency and business growth.

Position Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated Senior Accountant who can support the firm's management, provide leadership, and guide team members on all aspects of their client work. This role carries significant ownership of client relationships and technical work, with regular opportunity for direct client interaction and consulting.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, Trust & Individual income tax returns under the guidance of Client Managers

• Must be experienced in making journal entries to generate accurate books and records for clients

• Be responsive to clients’ needs, recognize client issues, and suggest solutions

• Research accounting and tax topics relating to specific clients

• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Serve as a point of escalation and guidance for less experienced staff on client work

• Assist with new company initiatives related to supporting programs that improve workplace efficiency and business growth

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, with progressive experience in tax preparation

• Experience in tax compliance services for a diverse range of clients is a plus

• Experience in compilation and bookkeeping is a plus

• Knowledge of the Thomson Reuters tax/accounting software suite preferred but not required (UltraTax, Fixed Asset CS, Planner CS, Accounting CS, Onvio, and Practice CS)

• Use of QuickBooks is a plus

• CPA designation preferred but not required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including directly with clients

• Ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff

• Proactive, with strong problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Schedule

• Full-time, in-office position based in Columbus, OH

• Overtime is required to meet tax deadlines — approximately 55-60 hrs/week from March 1 through April 15

• Observes the firm’s holiday schedule
