Job summary

Wigen Water Technologies in Minnesota is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the company's accounting functions and ensure processes comply with policies and laws. You will participate in daily accounting tasks and month-end close, while helping improve processes.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience and knowledge of payroll and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Acumatica, and inFlow. We offer competitive benefits and a path for growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with 5 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to present information to groups of managers, vendors, contractors and customers.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Accounting software (QuickBooks and Acumatica; Payroll Processing (Quickbooks and UKG preferred)); Inventory software (inFlow preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Applies a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Direct involvement in all daily accounting tasks (sales, purchases, receivables, payables, inventory etc.).
  • Reviews weekly time punches and processes bi-weekly payroll.
  • Reviews, imports and reconciles Ramp credit card activity.
  • Manage fixed asset & capital asset activity, reconciliations, and related depreciation.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close, GL reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Review financial and project cost information to identify discrepancies.
  • Annual processing and filing of vendor 1099’s.
  • Works with the retained CPA firm to ensure seamless process of quarterly and year-end engagements and tax preparation.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Provides backup to other accounting staff during busy times and PTO.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all financial and personnel matters.
  • Other tasks, duties and projects as assigned.

Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas related to supporting the Company’s accounting functions. The position will ensure processes comply with organization policies, applicable laws and regulations, and make process improvement recommendations to the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Applies a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, contractors and customers.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and Acumatica; Payroll Processing (Quickbooks and UKG preferred); Inventory software (inFlow preferred); Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

  • 144 hours (18 days) of annual Paid Time Off (PTO). The amount increases after 5 years of employment.
  • Paid Holidays (Schedule of our Paid Holidays is available upon request).
  • Daily Per Diem (when traveling for business needs). All flights and hotel paid for by the company.
